Prince Used Scenes From the Baltimore Protests in His Haunting New Music Video

Prince’s single “Baltimore,” released in May, honors Freddie Gray and those who protested following his death in April—and also asks, “Does anybody hear us pray?” The video, which featured artist Eryn Allen Kane posted today, weaves together scenes from the protests, onscreen lyrics, and news clips and headlines. It also follows up that central lyrical question with a quote from Prince: “The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life.”
